RANDOM network was founded in 2004 after Rafael Saraiva and
Thais Meireles, working at PAA/Jauregui, won the competition
organized by IAB (Institute of Brazilian Architects) that
year. The project, called "The City as a Sustainable
Process", was coordinated by Rafael.
In 2005 RANDOM won the closed competition to renovate the
Astoria Gallery, in Ipanema, but the project
was not built.
In 2006 RANDOM partnered with Andres Passaro, Diego Portas
and Marcos Favero for the Stefan Zweig Centre
competition, for which we won 2nd prize.
In 2008 RANDOM partnered with firm Artetec to work on the
masterplan for the Maracana Multi-modal Hub.
This project won an Acknoledge Prize from the Holcim Awards
